Q. Tell us about Avalon Exchange. What do you offer? What makes your stores unique?

A. We are a buy, sell, trade, resale boutique for women and men. We are a family owned and operated business, committed to providing you with a fun shopping experience. We began in 1988 as a vintage clothing store. Since then we have continued to provide style hungry shoppers with one of a kind treasures.

We buy directly from our community. Our on-the-spot approach to selling and trading is easier and more convenient than consignment. We give clothing and accessories second chances, while putting a little cash in the sellers pocket! In addition to our Coventry location, we have stores in Lakewood, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis.

Q. Why did you choose Coventry Village for a location?

A. Coventry is amazing. There are always people out and about! It is an incredibly dynamic and tight knit community. We love being a part of that.

Q. Tell us what you did before Avalon Exchange?

A. I have been managing and helping open various locations since I was in high school. In 2009, I took a one year break from Avalon to sell plus sized bikinis on the North Shore of Honolulu. It sounds like I’m making it up, but it’s true. I have pictures.

Q. What made you decide to continue to work for the family business after high school?

A. I love this business. It is so fast paced and interesting. Our inventory changes daily and we buy directly from the public. It doesn’t really feel like a job. My staff and I work really hard but we always have fun.

Q. Which member of your team has been with you the longest? What special skills do they provide for your business?

A. Tanisha has been with me the longest at the Coventry store. She has another full time job and still finds time to fit Avalon into her busy schedule. She works in all areas of the store. I love her positive attitude and how detail oriented she is. She’s amazing. She laughs at all of my jokes, and always has a great outfit.

Q. Give a few suggestions for unique gifts that holiday shopper can purchase at Avalon Exchange?

A. An Avalon Exchange gift card makes a fantastic stocking stuffer! We also have winter accessories, and vintage treasures. If you’re shopping for a new holiday outfit or winter clothes for yourself, we have lots of amazing items that arrive daily.

Thanks to Chelsea for taking the time to share with us. The Avalon team put together a great holiday window display for the Coventry Village Holiday Window Decorating Contest. Click on over to our online contest page and vote for your favorite. You can also cast a ballot when you’re shopping in participating stores through December 22nd.

Check back here tomorrow or become a fan of our Facebook page right now. Each weekday this holiday season, we’re introducing you to the independent business owners that help make Coventry Village a great place to live, work, shop, dine and play.
