Marketing your work is essential to building an audience. Whether you want to become a social media personality, describe yourself on your website, or simply answer the question “What do you do?” you need to know how to talk about it. Get inspired to share your work as presenters Lee Chilcote and Nikki Delamotte discuss the basics of self-marketing from social media to websites. You will look at examples of authors who have successfully marketed their work and you’ll practice fleshing out your own marketing ideas. The workshop will also help you set goals for 2016.
Lee Chilcote is a poet, essayist and journalist who co-founded Lit Cleveland. His journalism has appeared in Vanity Fair, Next City, Crain’s Cleveland Business and other publications. His poems and essays have appeared in literary journals including Pacific Review, Blast Furnace and Whiskey Island. He has a master’s degree in English and Creative Writing from CSU, where he won the Leonard Trawick Prize. When he’s not spending time with his wife and three kids on the near west side, he’s brazenly marketing Lit Cleveland.
Nikki Delamotte is a freelance journalist and editor whose work has appeared in Cleveland Scene, Fresh Water Cleveland, Thrillist and other publications.
