Poetry Workshop with Nin Andrews and Christine Howey @ Mac’s Backs Books

Poets Nin Andrews and Christine Howey facilitate a monthly poetry workshop at Mac’s. Join us on Tuesday, September 27th at 6 p.m. Attendees will read, share and workshop poems and/or flash fiction. All participants will be asked to purchase a book of poetry or fiction from Mac’s and, if the spirit moves them, to write a poem in response to their selected book. Nin Andrews’ poems and stories have appeared in many literary journals and anthologies including Ploughshares, The Paris Review, Best American Poetry (1997, 2001, 2003, 2013), and Great American Prose Poems. She won an individual artist grant from the Ohio Arts Council in 1997 and again in 2003 and is the author of five full-length and six chapbooks of poetry, including the newly released Why God is a Woman.
Christine Howey is a former stage actor and director, primarily at Dobama Theatre. She wrote and has performed the acclaimed one woman play Exact Change about gender and identity at Playhouse Square, Cleveland Public Theater and the New York Fringe Festival.
She is the current Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate and recently returned from an Ohio Arts Council Summer Residency program in Provincetown, MA.
